| TRICK AND TREAT. Coined by
the author Barry Groves, it's a play on words, based on the
children's practice of dressing up for Halloween and calling
on houses to solicit gifts (and hopefully no tricks!). But
where trick or treat gives you a choice, the way the 'health
industry' works does not. TRICK AND TREAT looks at the way
the health industry's strategy TRICKs us into making
ourselves unwell, so that they can then TREAT us for the
illnesses their advice has caused. Trick and Treat exposes the lie that is 'healthy eating' and discovers diets that work, based on the diets of our hunter-gatherer ancestors. Anyone can achieve optimal weight and optimal health given the right information. The trouble is we are fed the wrong dietary and lifestyle advice on a daily basis - it's little wonder our health is failing and we are getting fatter in the process. We can no longer ignore the frightening increase in disease and obesity in our society, to the point at which it is now running at epidemic levels. It is time to wake up and ask ourselves what is really behind this shocking trend so we can begin to take action to reverse it. Below is a selection of reading that has helped me find the answers to these difficult questions and enlightened me as to where I have been going wrong with my health. over millions of years, during which time our diet has
remained largely the same. Until around 10,000 years ago
that is – a tiny blip in our timeframe. At that point a
major revolution in agriculture heralded a radical change in
our diets with many new foods introduced that were
